A new life enrichment community is opening in February 2019 in New Prague and has just unveiled its name, created with input from local residents. The community will be known as Praha Village and is being developed by the Makado Group featuring Augustana Care as the operator. On completion it will offer 91 units to older adults with a focus on whole person wellness that includes independent living, assisted living and memory care options along with a myriad of life enriching options and activities.
Makado owner Mark Appelbaum felt strongly that focus groups of New Prague residents were crucial to the naming process. “We want this senior community to be a part of the fabric of New Prague and invested our time and resources through the focus group process,” says Appelbaum. Based on participants’ feedback, Praha Village was selected because Praha is the original name of New Prague and village represents a small community or group of houses, which evokes a sense of belonging.
“Our goal is always to be of the communities we develop and as such we felt it was very important to listen closely- and with humility– to understand the people and essence of New Prague,” says Appelbaum. “We learned a lot of subtleties and nuances through the listening process, heard valuable insights, and gained an even deeper appreciation for the people of New Prague,” he adds.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to further our mission of serving older adults, building on the strong working partnership that already exists in Rosemount with Makado. It is rare to find a developer and owner whose mission and vision aligns so well with ours in anticipating the needs of seniors in the communities we serve,” says Augustana Care CEO Tim Tucker.
The Praha Village marketing office will open Monday, May 21 and is located at 803 1st St. SE between Lady A’s Cupcakes and Great Clips. Floor plans and pricing will be available at this time. Walk-ins are welcome; however, staffed hours will vary, so visitors may prefer to make a private appointment by calling Shelly Krueger at 952-855-8855.
Makado and Augustana Care look forward to serving the community in the near future and are grateful to all those who participated in focus groups. To learn more or set up an interview with Makado Owner Mark Appelbaum, please call Jenna at 612-238-8552.
